The Holy Bible, which is more than just a book, contains the full description of what a life is like for people of God, and the people that do not follow God. Sixty-six books divided into two testaments: old and new. 1,189 chapters starting with the creation of the world and ending with the return of Christ.

The Bible has been translated to more languages than any other book ever created. Within the pages of the Holy Bible, you will find everything from encouragement to drama. Everything between the two covers of this book teaches us how to be Christians and fulfill God’s purpose for our lives. As you read through this book you will find the highs and lows of humanity on full display.

Each book throughout the Bible is a reminder of Ecclesiates 1:9 (NIV), “what has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.”

Introduction
We write reviews for nearly everything: products, services, and even the food we eat. But what would reviews of scripture look like in today's context? I'm experimenting with something different in the short reviews below. I'm exploring how I perceive the scriptures, as if I'm reviewing the verses themselves. My goal is to keep these short, quick reads that are still thought-provoking. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

Philippians 4:19 NIV
And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
God really knows how to take care of us. Whenever I need something, He’s there, providing in ways I didn’t even think were possible. The way He looks out for us is just incredible, with a kindness and generosity that truly stand out. I’ve always felt supported and never left hanging. He always comes through.

Matthew 11:28-29 NIV
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Honestly, I didn’t even know how worn out I was until I came across this. Life gets busy, and you just keep pushing through, but this verse hit differently. It’s like God knew exactly what I needed: real rest. Not just sleep, but a kind of peace that settles deep inside you. The way He offers rest is so gentle and reassuring, like a weight being lifted off your shoulders. It made me realize that sometimes, you just need to let go and trust that He’s got your back. It’s a game changer.

Psalms 4:8 NIV
In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.
This verse is a game-changer for those restless nights. I didn’t realize how much I needed to feel the safety from Lord to actually sleep well. It’s like a reminder that God’s got me covered, and I can just chill and let go of all the worries. Ever since I started thinking about this before bed, I’ve been sleeping like a baby. Seriously, it’s made a huge difference.

Psalms 1:6 NIV
For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.
If you want to have the Lord’s blessing on your life, you must use this verse! Even when you think the Lord is not watching, He hears and knows your every thought and action. People worry about smart devices hearing your conversations, but the Lord hears and sees so much more. So, be mindful of your ways, both in public and in private.

Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
God’s promises are the real deal! He doesn’t just talk the talk, He backs it up with action. The hope and future He’s given me feel like a lifetime warranty, and the best part is there is no worry about it ever running out. God’s promises are good now and forever.

Colossians 1:15-20 NIV
The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
Many sons exist, but only the Son of God can back up the bold statements of these verses. No other son can ever, or will ever compare to the Son of God. Now is the time to put your trust in God, believe in His Son Jesus, and allow His Spirit to dwell in your heart.

Psalms 23:4 NIV
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
Dark valleys are no match for the comfort and peace that come from God. He is our shepherd and protector, guiding us through every trial. His rod and staff are symbols of His strength and care, offering me assurance that I can and will overcome the darkness. With God by my side, I am never alone, and His presence gives me the courage to face whatever comes.

Galatians 2:20 NIV
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
No other life is worthy of living in my opinion! I only want to live a life with Christ living in me. Knowing that Christ gave His life for me, means I should take great care to give my life to Him, so that I honor Christ with my life.

Romans 8:28 NIV
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Not everything works as advertised. There have been countless times when I believed that some inanimate object would improve my life in a meaningful way, only to discover it didn’t live up to its description. But this is never the case with God! He is exactly as this verse describes! Everything truly does work together for good!

Revelation 22:13 NIV
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
Simply put, nothing existed before God and nothing will exist after God. He is present from cover to cover in the book of life.
CL
Act 27:23-24 NIV
Last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me and said, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand trial before Caesar; and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you.’
Paul’s experience with God in Acts 27 is a perfect example of faith in action. The angel’s message was clear: no need to fear, God’s got this. Paul didn’t just hear the words, he believed them and God delivered. This verse is a solid reminder that when God makes a promise, it’s already as good as done. Even when the storm feels like it’s going to take us out, it might just be a distraction trying to throw us off course. God’s plan always wins.
NO
Psalm 91:3 NIV
Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence.
When I needed saving, God was right there, no searching or waiting required. He showed up exactly when and where I needed Him most. What’s even more incredible is how many times He’s saved me from myself, pulling me back from mistakes. His protection is constant, and this verse is a perfect reminder that He’s always got my back, no matter what.

Ecclesiastes 3:8 NIV
A time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.
Is there really a time to hate? Yes, absolutely! I hate plain rice. Okay, so that’s not what this is talking about. What we should hate is the evil in the world, the injustice that takes away our peace. We should also hate the things that separate us from God. The only antidote to hate is to love all the things God provides that bring us peace. His word brings me peace!
SO
Psalm 91:1-2 NIV
Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
It’s easy to say God is my refuge and fortress because it’s true. My physical home has its flaws; it can crack, leak, or even get damaged by a strong storm. But God’s fortress is unshakable, no matter what comes my way. His protection is solid, and knowing that I can trust Him with everything gives me the kind of peace no earthly shelter could provide. Psalm 91:1-2 is a reminder that with God, I’m always safe, no matter what.
